What happens at the end of a contract?

When your business electricity contract reaches its end date, the supplier typically shifts you to a default or out‑of‑contract tariff if you do not sign a new agreement. These variable rates are generally higher because they reflect short‑term wholesale market prices. To avoid paying these higher default rates, you should review your contract a few months before it expires and compare offers from other suppliers. You can renew with your current provider or switch to a new one without any interruption in your electricity service. If you do nothing, electricity will still flow, but you will continue to pay the higher out‑of‑contract rate until you sign a new contract.
